TWO male students have been threatened by a man and a woman in York.

The students were sitting near the Goldmine shop in Haxby Road at about 1.20am on Friday, when they were approached by a man and a woman, who engaged them in conversation. One of the victims offered the couple a roll-up cigarette from a pouch of tobacco, and the male suspect threatened to steal the pouch, and used a bicycle D-lock to threaten the victim, issuing threats, then walking out of the city, taking the tobacco with them.

Police said the male suspect was white, aged between 18 to 23, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall, with a slim build and very short hair. He was wearing a grey or blue matching long sleeved top and bottoms and was carrying a black or dark blue coloured D-Lock, about one foot in length.

The woman was white, between 18 to 23 years old, about 5’4” to 5’5” tall, of stocky build, with blond highlighted hair in a ponytail which was shoulder length.

She had silver hooped earrings in each ear, which were three or four inches in diameter. She was wearing a knee-length dress with brown and black flowers on a beige background. She also wore a short cropped cardigan which had short sleeves, brown or black in colour and was carrying a large, brown or black shoulder bag with long straps.

Anyone with any information should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
