THE man wanted in connection with the murder of Bridlington hotel landlady Bei Carter is still missing.

Police urgently want to find 53 year old John Heald, and now believe he has returned to his home in South Yorkshire.

Forty-nine year old Bei Carter, landlady of the Morayland Hotel, was found dead at the hotel on Marshall Avenue late on Saturday night, prompting a man hunt for Heald.

Police think Heald has left Humberside and initially thought he could be in Scarborough, but now believe he has gone back to South Yorkshire.

There have been reported sightings of Heald in Rotherham and Mexborough, and police have revealed he is wanted for a serious offence in Sheffield as well as Ms Carter's murder.

Detective Superintendent Mathew Hutchinson, leading the search for the wanted man for Humberside Police, said:

“It is absolutely imperative that anyone who has seen this man or has any information about his whereabouts calls the police now and tells us what they know.

“To anyone who might be helping Heald evade the police, I would say; consider your actions, this is a very dangerous man, he needs arresting before he can harm anybody else.

“I believe Heald poses a threat to the general public and therefore people should not approach him. If they do see him they should ring 999 immediately."

Humberside Police were called shortly before midnight on Friday to the guest house on Marshall Avenue in Bridlington.

Police and an ambulance went to the scene and found Ms Carter, who was confirmed dead.

Detectives quickly identified John Heald as having been at the premises and now want to trace him. They are urging Heald, or anyone who knows his whereabouts to contact Humberside Police immediately on 01377 208989.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Baldwin, added:

“John Heald has managed to evade the police so far but we are closing in on him and will not relent until we have found him.

"I believe he is a very dangerous individual and it is an absolute priority to track him down.

"It may also be that Mr Heald is sleeping rough and so once again I would ask for the public to remain vigilant and anyone who thinks they see him should not approach him but contact the police straight away."
