A TEENAGE girl has been rescued from the River Ouse in York last night.
The girl is understood to have been playing with friends near the river at about 9.15pm when she and another youngster jumped into the water.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire And Rescue Service said the girl got into trouble and had to be helped from the water. She was taken to York Hospital as a precaution but was not seriously ill or injured, said the spokeswoman.
Emergency services have been urging people not to jump into the Ouse or Foss, following several tragedies and near misses earlier this year.
