A SHORTLIST has been created of applicants for two direct entry Superintendent roles at North Yorkshire Police.
The two candidates were among 67 applicants - mostly from outside North Yorkshire Police, from industries including the legal sector, military, local government and private businesses - who put their names forward for the roles, with seven asked to take part in a round of interviews at police headquarters.
From those seven, the two candidates were selected this week and will now go forward to the College of Policing National Assessment Centre to take part in a series of tests to evaluate their ability to perform in the rank of Superintendent.
Assistant Chief Constable Paul Kennedy said: “The calibre of the candidates who applied for the Direct Entry Programme was very impressive and I am delighted that so many talented individuals showed an interest in working for North Yorkshire Police.
“The selection process was extremely tough, which it needed to be to ensure we are putting the right applicants through to the next stage, and I am really pleased that we have identified two people to progress."
The next stage of the recruitment process will take place between the end of this month and the beginning of August, with the applicants facing a number of scenarios to measure their ability to perform in the role, and their ability to bring new perspectives to the police service.
