YORK-BASED train company Grand Central has launched a search for people along its routes who have made a difference to their local communities.
The Grand Central Heart of the Community Awards will recognise achievements from raising money for good causes or volunteering for a local initiative.
A spokeswoman urged people to nominate their unsung heroes, with the winner receiving a pair of return train tickets to London and the chance to attend an awards ceremony with other regional winners.
“One winner along North East Route will be selected at the awards ceremony to receive an overnight trip for four to London and a £500 donation from Grand Central to the charity of their choice,” she said.
Nominations can be emailed to grandcentral@grayling.com using the title header York Heart of the Community Awards and an entry form can be downloaded at

The competition closes on July 14 with winners selected by August 11.
