POLICE are still urging the public to help them find Shaun Michael Barker, who is wanted for recall to prison.

Barker, 36, was sentenced to 12 months in prison last year for possessing an offensive weapon and released on licence on May 2, but has failed to comply with the terms of his licence.

Barker is white, 6ft 2in tall, with a medium build and brown hair, and police said his whereabouts are unknown, it is believed he is in the York area.

Detective Inspector Graeme Wright, of York CID, said: "Shaun, if you see or hear this appeal, you need to know that we are going to find you and return you to prison. We have an established record of locating people who wrongly believe they can remain at liberty. By remaining at large you are only making the inevitable outcome worse for yourself. I am also asking anyone who sees Shaun Barker to contact the police straight away.

"Officers have already visited a number of addresses where barker is believed to have links. These visits will continue until he is back in custody. If you are shielding Barker from the police you need to know that you are not helping him. In fact you are only making matters worse. You also need to know that you maybe committing offences yourself. If this is the case you face the prospect of arrest and prosecution."

Anyone with information should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
