REAL ale meets wheel ale on Saturday, when a bike and beer festival is held in York.
The Golden Ball on the corner of Cromwell Road and Victor Street is holding the Bishophill Velocipede Festival to coincide with the Grand Depart, with weird and wonderful bikes and local beers.
Local brewers joined in the fun by swapping their vans for bikes, and pedalling their casks to the pub.
Tim Spakouskas had the longest ride, cycling 12 miles from Yorkshire Heart brewery in Nun Monkton, and beers were also brought in by bike from Hop Studio in Elvington, Treboom in Shipton-by-Beningbrough, York Brewery in Toft Green and Four Thorns in Heslington.
Local bike couriers Green Link brought in the York Brewery beer and the others were helped by tricycle draymen from local businesses Get Cycling, St. Nicks Recycling and Professor Fiddlesticks.
The festival is from 2pm to 8pm on Saturday. There will be live music through through a cycle-powered sound system, a pedal-driven blacksmiths forge will be fired up and there’ll be lots unusual bikes.
People are encouraged to bring their own bike and decorate it for the Tour.
