THE Richard III Experience is offering late-night opening throughout July and August.
The Monk Bar visitor attraction, which opened at Easter, is extending its opening hours, welcoming visitors until 8pm each evening.
Sarah Maltby, director of attractions for the JORVIK Group, which runs the Richard III Experience, and its sister attraction in Micklegate Bar, the Henry VII Experience, said: “As the city’s retail businesses close for the day, there are still many visitors wandering around the city looking for something interesting to do before they head out for dinner, and many of these visitors enjoy the summer evenings walking along the walls.
“At a time when most other visitor attractions are closed, we’ll be welcoming them in this superb historic gateway to explore one of the hottest stories in history – the much-maligned Richard III.”
The attraction includes hands-on games and activities for children, including a medieval-style tent on the top floor, audio-visual displays explaining Richard III’s involvement with the city, and a full set of armour showing how Richard would have looked as he rode into his last, battle.
