A YORK scriptwriter will see her work performed in front of industry judges this weekend.

Aspiring TV writer Jane Harrison is through to the final of the Script Yorkshire 25th Anniversary competition, and is going head to head with five other writers from the county for the top prize.

Jane has already had to produce a description of her play, and sample scenes for the earlier rounds, and on Saturday will see a 15-minute extract performed at the Wakefield Theatre Royal in the final round.

Her play, Spring in January, tells the tale of three Yorkshire teachers stuck on the wrong side of Cairo when the Egyptian revolution broke out in 2011.

If she wins, Jane will be mentored by Sony award-winning radio producer Gary Brown to turn those15 minutes into a full-length script.
