A WOMAN has moved out of her York home after her car was targeted by vandals for the fifth time in about a year.

The latest attack on Holly Town's Citroen DS3 in the early hours of Saturday morning left blood on the vehicle, dents to the roof, and a broken and damaged wing mirror.

Holly, 27, only moved to her flat in Haxby Road just over a year ago but said she had been left with no choice but to leave her home.

Previous attacks have seen paint thinner poured over the car paintwork and razor blades embedded in the tyres.

She said: "I have got to leave because I'm not comfortable staying there. I'm absolutely flabbergasted about what's happened."

"I have just had the paint stripper done because I was only just able to afford it."

She said it had only been on road one night when the latest attack happened.

"The damage they did was brutal, leaving blood on the car. There were footprints all over it, they'd jumped on it, broken and stolen part of my wing mirror."

The car had to be completely resprayed following the first paint stripper attack, and tyres had to be replaced, but Holly said she still had no idea why her vehicle was being targeted.

She said: "I'm disgusted and confused about it. I'm frightened as well. I don't really know how to react. I don't feel comfortable staying there.

"I'm putting a stop to it by moving because the police haven't caught them, but hopefully this time they will be able to because they have left blood. I have had to kick my roof back into shape from the inside. There are footprints on it and blood on it as well."

Holly, a self-employed letting agent, said she was moving back to her family home until she can find a house with a driveway, and the attacks had not just cost her wellbeing, but financially as well.

She said: "It's really my business that I run that's suffering because I'm having to take time out and money for five repair jobs. I've got to meet clients so I can't really turn up with it looking like that."

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "At around 1.30am on Saturday 14 June, a bronze Citroen DS car was badly damaged outside Haxby Road Primary School. Officers have been investigating the incident, including making house to house inquiries."

Inquiries are ongoing including a forensic examination of blood found at the scene, he said.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Haxby Road area in the early hours of Saturday morning to come forward with information."
