York is a top ten target for visitors planning a staycation.
The number of Britons who holiday at home has doubled in the last three years and the city is the eighth most popular destination - up from tenth last year.
Three-quarters of the country is forecast to remain in the UK for a summer break and those who go to York will spend nearly £600 enjoying themselves, according to a survey by Travelodge.
