CHARITY runner John Lewis won't need to go far for a refreshing pint when he crosses the finishing line in York this weekend.

For brewer John has created a new beer, especially for the event.

John, from Treboom Brewery at Shipton-by-Beningbrough, is taking part in the R U Taking the P...? run on Sunday, in aid of prostate cancer research at the University of York's Yorkshire Cancer Research lab, led by renowned scientist Norman Maitland.

John worked at the lab before becoming a brewer and said he wanted to support the event in person and by brewing a beer, with a share of the proceeds going to charity.

The beer will be on sale in The Slip Inn in Clementhorpe and The Marcia in Bishopthorpe, after Sunday's run.
