A DRUG dealer has been jailed after North Yorkshire Police caught him with enough cocaine for more than 100 deals on the A1.

Adam Mugliston, prosecuting, said Jocelyn Herman Turner, 36, had 107 small wraps and 22 larger wraps of the Class A drug hidden in his sock when he was arrested heading south near Boroughbridge.

Together they weighed 20.81g and were worth between £1,600 and £2,000 on the street.

York Crown Court heard that Turner also had £5,000 with him.

His barrister Jessica Strange said that the money had been his winnings at a betting shop in Darlington, which had been returned to him by the police following his arrest.

He had used it to pay off the gambling debts which he had planned to pay by selling cocaine.

Turner, of Roseheath Close, Sunnyhill, Derby, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply it and was jailed for two years and four months.

The Recorder of York, Judge Stephen Ashurst, told him his account of how he got the cocaine was “highly improbable”.

Turner claimed to the police that he had seen someone hide it under a bush in a park and took it after the person had left.
