YORKSHIRE’S white horse is in for a make over ready for the summer.

The White Horse of Kilburn is getting a spruce up this month from The Kilburn White Horse Association - the charity that looks after the landmark on Sutton Bank in the North York Moors.

Supporters have arranged for the horse to be repainted with the help of local businesses.

Helen Bielby, the association’s vice chairman, said the charity has to work very hard to raise funds to keep the well known Yorkshire icon alive.

Richmondshire industrial maintenance company Instore Solutions Ltd have stepped up to do the work over three days from Friday, June 20, and Sunday, June 22, and much of the paint has been donated by Batley based PPG Architectural Coatings UK Limited.

The figure dates from the 1850s, and is the largest and more northerly in England.
