Selby parking charges frozen to boost economy

CAR parking charges in Selby have been frozen until 2016.

The district council agreed to keep car parking charges at their current rate to help the local economy at a meeting of the Executive on Thursday.

In Tadcaster, this means that no parking charges have been introduced despite recent investment in parking in the town. Parking in Sherburn in Elmet also remains free.

Cllr Chris Metcalfe said: "This decision translates as practical support for local businesses in the district by keeping costs down for people who want to use their local shops and access local services."

The next review of parking charges is due in March 2016.

Its good the prices are being frozen.

although the prices are still really high for a small town.

also, the prices we pay should be used to maintain the car parks - this obviously isnt the case as they are full of pot holes and you risk damaging your car.
