PREPARATIONS for a community festival in York are well under way.

The Acomb Dance, Arts and Music - or ADAM - Festival will be held in Acomb on Saturday, July 19, with activities throughout the area.

This year’s event promises to be the biggest yet, and has increased the number of locations from eight to 12, and includes shows and events at Acomb WMC, St Stephen’s Church, a pop-up cinema in Poppleton Road Memorial Hall, and performances at Acomb Explore.

Keith Myers, one of the festival organisers, said: “This year’s festival will see performances in more than a dozen indoor and outdoor venues across the village.

“In particular we will bring Front Street to life with acting, community choral performances, guerilla street art, Zumba, a majorette parade and roving musicians.

Our vision is to see the whole of Acomb bursting with art, music and fun, a festival which not only brings together great local artists but also brings together the whole community.”
