THE York teachers behind an internet hit World Cup song have their sights set on chart glory when their record is released next week.

Robin Parmiter and Ian Wilson, together known as Disco Mister, are putting their song Bring it Home on sale next week, and will be donating proceeds to two good causes.

Robin and Ian first recorded and filmed the song in early May, and have now scored more than 66,000 views on Youtube along with endorsements from celebrities including Clare Balding, Miranda Hart and Jack Whitehall.

Now the pair have been approached by music project Band Crusade to release the song, and have pledged the funds to a charity in memory of murdered Leeds teacher Anne Maguire.

It will be on sale through iTunes, Amazon and other online shops from Monday, June 9.

Robin said: “We are raising money for the Bobby Moore Fund to pay tribute to the World Cup legend and raise money for bowel cancer research, and the Anne Maguire Educational Fund to honour her memory.”

The two Huntington School teachers chose charities to reflect their love of the World Cup and their profession.

Their campaign has the approval of Anne Maguire’s family, and the funds it raises will help provide bursaries and funding for the personal development of young people through music, drama, language and dance.

And now the FA has dropped plans to release Gary Barlow’s “official” World Cup song, the pair are hoping their song - which will be eligible for the UK charts, will make it into the Top 40.

They said: “Despite being massive underdogs, Disco Mister can make it into the UK charts with your help.

“With no official song to sing, England fans up and down the country can get behind their team, two great charities, and their fellow fans by buying ‘Bring It Home’ on the week of June 9.”
