SHE has seen her own daughter honoured for her determination and sporting spirit, but now the tables have turned and a York mum is up for recognition herself in this year's Community Pride awards.

Jade Ross, mum to last year’s Sporting Hero winner Sianagh Gallagher, has been nominated for the Community Pride’s Parent of the Year award,

The award, sponsored by Barnitts, recognises the one-in-a-million parents and guardians of York who are always there for the people who need them.

And Sianagh, 17, truly believes that her mum, Jade Ross, deserves an award for her efforts as a single mother-of-five.

Sianagh said: “Every one of her kids shine with the best determination, attitudes and commitment to life and that’s down to my mum’s same taste of achievement.”

Born with one arm, Sianagh has valued her mum's support to achieve whatever she wants to achieve.

Sianagh said: “She definitely made me feel like everyone else and sometimes she forgets that I’ve got one arm because she doesn’t see it as a disability for me.

“That makes me feel so great because I know she doesn’t treat me any different.”

Proud mum Jade has herself nominated Sianagh for awards, saying her daughters selfless attitude is everything the spirit of youth should be.

Now the tables have turned Jade said she is thrilled to have her own name put forward.

She said: “It feels fantastic to be nominated, I feel like I have done a good job as a parent and I feel like a winner just to be nominated.”

Sianagh added: “My mum is a true inspiration to me and is my motivator to achieve great things and without her, I really wouldn’t know where I was going with life.

“My mum is that unique that she’s second to none and I love her more than anything. I know how hard she tries and how much dedication and time she gives up for us."
