BOLTON Hospice is hoping to recruit more volunteers by holding two open days next month.

The open days will be held at the hospice’s base in Chorley New Road on Saturday, June 7, from 10am until 1pm, and Monday, June 9, from 4pm until 7pm. The hospice relies upon donations and fundraising for more than two-thirds of its annual £3.5 million running costs.

It is currently supported by around 800 volunteers.

Cathy Wright, shops’ manager for the hospice, said: “We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of three hours per week and we’re looking for people to help with the sorting of saleable donations, displaying stock on the shop floor, joiners, painters, electricians and furniture removals.”

Bolton Hospice opened two new shops last year and has a further two planned for this year.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer, but is unable to make one of the open days visit boltonhospice.
