STUDENTS Tadcaster Grammar School had an unexpected meeting with Ed Miliband when they visited the Houses and Parliament and the Royal Courts of Justice.
The 29 pupils headed to London with members of the Partnership Development team and toured both sites.
At the courts they were given the chance to hold their own trial and at the Houses of Parliament met Selby MP Nigel Adams and Lib Dem peer and former North Yorkshire County Councillor Baroness Angela Harris to learn more about the workings of Parliament as well as the building's history and art.
The students also took part in the workshop of elections but it was while they were waited for their Parliamentary guides that the Leader of the Opposition spoke to them, and agreed to have his photograph taken with the group.
After the school's London trip, Nigel Adams MP then visited Tadcaster Grammar School for a question and answer session with students.
