A 50-YEAR-OLD MAN was left with serious injuries after a bike accident in York yesterday evening.
Police said the cyclist fell off his bike just after 8pm at the junction of Petersway and Clifton Road.
He is thought to have been travelling along the A19 in Bootham heading towards Clifton just before the incident, but police are still investigating the circumstances.
The cyclist, who was riding a mountain bike with distinctive red and black panniers, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where he remains.
Now officers want to hear from anyone who saw what happened.
Traffic Sergeant Andrew Morton said: “I am sure that anyone who saw the bike will remember it because of the noticeable panniers over the back wheel.
“If you witnessed the collision or saw the cyclist prior to the incident, I urge you to contact the police straight away.
“I am also keen to speak to anyone who assisted at the scene, prior to the arrival of paramedics and has not yet spoken to the police, and ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.”
