YORK actor and Theatre Royal panto star Martin Barrass has cut the ribbon to officially open a new-look Post Office at Woodthorpe.

The Post Office in Moorcroft Road, run by Subpostmaster Neil Dixon and his assistant Barbara Burn, has been refurbished and now provides customers with a bright new modern retail environment and extended opening hours, said a spokesman.

"It has two serving positions: one modern screened position and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter," he said.

"Opening hours at the newly modernised branch are from 07:00-18:00 Monday to Saturday and 09:00-12:00 on Sundays, giving customers an extra nine hours of service, including earlier opening times throughout the week.

"The same wide range of services will be available to customers with the addition of the car tax renewal service."
