A two-day auction of vintage and classic cars, motorcycles and automobilia takes place at Castle Combe Circuit next week.
Collectors will have the chance to bid for a piece of a rare collection of petrol pumps from the 1920s and 1930s, often seen as the golden age of motoring.
The set has been privately owned in Ireland for over 30 years and is expected to sell for £100,000 on May 30.
Auctioneer Richard Edmonds, from Chippenham Auction Rooms, said: “The pumps had to be cranked by hand until in the 1930s electric versions were introduced. There is even one pump called a Theo Multiple that could dispense six different brands of fuel doing away with the need to have six different pumps.”
Also in the 1,000 lot collection are enamel signs, oil cans, oil bottles, light boxes, flags and early postcards promoting various petrol suppliers.
On May 31 there will be a sale of about 40 classic motorcycles and over 60 vintage and classic cars.
