YORK'S Guild of Scriveners has handed over the proceeds of its Assize of Ale event to the Lord Mayor for her chosen civic charities.

The annual fundraising event, which took place in August, raising cash for the Independent Domestic Abuse Service (IDAS) and the Jack Raine foundation, which supports vulnerable people across the city.

A cheque was presented by Master of the Guild of Scriveners Tim Hinton and chairman of the charity committee Jean Jesty to Lord Mayor Cllr Julie Gunnell and the civic party.

Cllr Gunnell thanked the Guild of the Scriveners all those who took part in the event for their support.
