STAFF at a North Yorkshire National Trust home are preparing to literally share their gardens with the public.

The annual plant sale at Beningbrough Hall Gallery and Gardens runs this weekend, with hundreds of people expected to visit the property and take home some of the venue's award-winning flowers.

Tom Longridge, gardener at the property, said: “After lifting and dividing plants over the winter season, the borders have been revitalised for spring and we have plenty of surplus plants, many from the double borders including primulas and peonies.

"It’s a good time to pick up a bargain but also a plant that you might have admired growing in the borders from your last visit. Many of the plants on sale are herbaceous perennials and will give repeated flower year after year."

The sale runs tomorrow, and Sunday, between 11am and 4pm. Normal admission fees apply, and an exhibition called Royals: Then And Now is also on display.
