HIGH street retailer Marks & Spencer is preparing to unveil its newly modernised store in York's city centre.

The York Pavement store will open on Thursday, May 22 to reveal the results of a refurbishment project, which has seen the introduction of a new bakery and beauty department and an extended cafe.

Store manager Andy Crum said: “I am looking forward to welcoming customers to see the makeover of our York Pavement store.

2M&S has had a store at The Pavement for more than a century and we are delighted to be bringing some of the newest features, such as the M&S Bakery and Beauty department, for local customers to enjoy.

"We are excited to share what we have been working on for the last few months with customers and hope that they will join us to mark the completion of work at the store.”

As part of the makeover, the M&S satellite store in Coppergate closed on April 26, with the childrenswear and menswear departments moving to The Pavement store and homeware relocating to the recently opened Vangarde Monks Cross.

All employees from the Coppergate store have moved across to The Pavement or Vangarde Monks Cross stores.
