SCARECROWS dressed up as the Great British Sewing Bee and Postman Pat are among the dozens of figures lining three routes around a York village.

Dunnington will play host to a three-day Scarecrow Trail from today with a raffle, cakes and refreshments available today in the Reading room to raise money in honour of brave schoolboy Oscar Hughes who has suffered an aggressive relapse following a brain tumour last year.

Maps for the event cost £1 and are available from St Nicholas Church which will be open from 10am today and Monday, and 11am on Sunday. Three different routes are marked out to view scarecrows such as Toy Story, Cruella De Vil and little Miss Muffet.

Profits will be shared between St Nicholas Church and Dunnington Methodist church kitchen appeal.

Scarecrows will also be putting in an appearance in Haxby and Wigginton this weekend with trails setting off from Haxby Methodist Church.
