THE Conservative Party in Yorkshire and The Humber has launched its campaign for seats in the European Parliament.

Six candidates are contesting seats for the region in the European elections on May 22, including Timothy Kirkhope, who is currently a Euro MP.

Mr Kirkhope, who visited The Press offices in Walmgate with fellow candidate John Procter on the launch day, said the elections were the most important in a generation, as the people of Yorkshire had their say on Britain's relationship with Europe for the first time since the Eurozone crisis.

"Only the Conservatives have a credible plan to re-shape Britain's relationship with the European Union and to put this to the people in our region in an in-out referendum by the end of 2017," he claimed.
