DETECTIVES are continuing to investigate the circumstances of a sexual assault in riverside gardens in York.
North Yorkshire Police said the victim, a 20-year-old woman, was continuing to receive support from specially trained police officers.
The attack happened in the early hours of yesterday in North Street Gardens, alongside the River Ouse.
The gardens were sealed off and guarded all day at its entrances near to Lendal Bridge and the Park Inn by Radisson hotel, but the cordon was removed last night.
A force spokesman said police inquiries remained ongoing and two men, aged 24 and 26 and both from York, who were arrested in connection with the assault remained on police bail.
