THERE is major traffic disruption in York this afternoon, leading to delays on bus services.
First York say there are higher than average levels of traffic on certain key routes.
There are severe delays on Fulford Road and there have been problems around the A64 Fulford Interchange due to a broken-down car and caravan.
First's No. 7 service is running up to 30 minutes late, and severe delays in the city-centre mean and from Water Lane/Water End to Leeman Road mean No 2 buses are running up to 45 minutes late.
A First spokesman said: "Our controllers and Park and Ride Supervisors are working to regulate service to get buses back on time."
Delays have also been caused by a road sweeper breaking down on the roundabout at the junction between the York Outer Ring Road and A59 at Poppleton.
Knock-on delays have affected the Ring Road, Water End, Clifton Moor and the area around the National Railway Museum.
Traffic has also been very heavy around Clarence Street and the Haxby Road/Wiggington Road junction, causing major delays to bus services No. 1,5, and 6 of up to 45 minutes.
