EGG-TRAILS, train-trips and bike rides are a handful of the egg-citing events taking place in and around York across the Easter period.

The National Trust has teamed up with Cadbury for their celebrations and elsewhere celebrity chef James Martin will be cooking a three-course Easter Sunday lunch. Here’s a list of some of the activities taking place:

• Cadbury Eggsplorers Easter Egg Trails at Beningbrough Hall between April 18 and April 21, with a chance to meet the Easter Bunny, run an egg and spoon race, and decorate an egg. More details are available at www.eastereggtrail.co.uk.

• The Talbot Hotel, Malton, will serve a three-course lunch on Easter Sunday, followed by an Easter egg hunt around the grounds. Tickets cost £25. For table reservations call: 01653 639096

• Egg-trails in Helmsley will take place from April 14 until Easter Monday, beginning at Hunters of Helmsley. Trail maps cost £1 and will guide visitors around the town’s attractions, with plenty of eggs along the way.

• Cadbury Eggsplorers Easter Egg Trails will also take place at Nunnington Hall, near Helmsley, until April 27, where visitors will have the opportunity to take part in craft activities and explore the house and gardens.

• The North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Whitby, will run the Easter Eggspress every day until April 28. For more information visit: www.nymr.co.uk, or call 01751 472508.

• Until April 21, Dalby Bike Barn, Pickering, is offering the chance to build a Yellow Tour de France bike, before searching the new Ellerburn Trail for treasures and treats. They also have a Family Fun Adventure Ride today, which costs £5 per person. Bikes can be hired for all the events. • From April 18 to 21, children who visit Kiplin Hall, near Scorton, Richmond, can take part in Easter hunts, mask-making, colouring activities as well as other activities. For those who go along in an Easter bonnet and take a hard-boiled egg to decorate, there will be hat and egg judging each day at 4pm. • A Selby pub is hosting a family fun day on Saturday when its grounds are giving way to staging an Egg Olympics. The Drovers Arms in Skipwith, will have face painting and a craft corner at noon, before the activities move outside for welly wanging, egg and spoon races and egg tossing. In addition, there will be a bouncy castle, Easter egg hunt, giant Easter egg prize draw and rabbit petting.

• Families can celebrate Easter with free gardening games, crafts and lots of eggs when Yorkshire Wildlife Trust takes its Easter Egg-stravaganza to four York community gardens. From 10am to 11am on Saturday, trust officers will be at the Sanderson House Community Garden in Bramham Road‎ and then from 1pm to 2pm at the Glen Community Garden in Heworth. On Easter Monday, from 10am until noon, they will be at The Groves Secret Garden in March Street and then from 2pm to 4pm, people can join them at  Lidgett Grove Community Garden.
