TWO accidents have caused heavy traffic around York tonight.

Both happened at about 6pm and involved multiple vehicles.

The first happened on the A1237 York Outer Ring Road close to the Monks Cross link road, and involved three vehicles at the roundabout.

The road is currently blocked while the vehicles await recovery, but nobody is believed to have been injured.

In a separate incident at about the same time, two vehicles have crashed on the A64 at Flaxton, by the junction with Steelmore Lane.

Police and emergency services are currently in attendance, no details of injuries are available, but a police spokeswoman said traffic was building up in the westbound carriageway.
