A MAN has been arrested after another man’s jaw was broken in two in an alleged assault.

Police confirmed yesterday morning that a 22-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the alleged assault in Selby in the early hours of Sunday, March 30.

He has been released on bail while inquiries continue.

The victim, a 24-year-old local man, was allegedly attacked outside Barclays Bank at the junction of Gowthorpe and Finkle Street.

He was left with serious injuries to his face and spent three days in hospital, undergoing surgery to insert a metal plate and screws to hold his chin together.
