A CHARITY football match between former York City stars and York FA 'old boys' has raised thousands of pounds for a children's hospice appeal.

York City Past Players who got their boots on again included Andy McMillan, Steve Tutill, Iain Dunn, Steve Bushell, Lee Nogan, Tony Canham and Chris Topping.

The game, which took place on Sunday at Huntington Rovers ground, was won 7-2 by the ex-City players, said match coordinator Graham Bradbury.

He said most of the players taking part were aged between 40 and 60, but with two as old as 63.

The match was attended by about 300 spectators and raised £3,290 through admission charges, sponsorship, a raffle and a small auction held afterwards in the club's sports and social club.

The money went to BBC Radio York's Good Night's Sleep Appeal in aid of Martin House Hospice at Boston Spa.
