Three homes in Tang Hall were targeted by burglars on Saturday.

Would-be burglars struck at two of homes in daylight, while the third was targeted in the late afternoon or early evening.

In the first, between 7-7.40am, someone tried and failed to get into a property on Melrosegate.

Later that day, a man with grey hair was disturbed after trying to break into a house on Hull Road via the back door but once again nothing was taken and the suspect fled empty handed.

In the third incident, burglars got into a house on Millfield Lane through an open window between 4-8pm.

Electrical items were stolen including laptops, an iPad, a digital camera, electrical accessories and a bike.

Police say they do not know if the three are linked, but they want to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity or people in the areas.

Detective Constable Graeme Bevington said: “Unfortunately, the offenders managed to enter one of the houses through an open window while the occupants were out.

“Opportunist thieves are on the lookout for easy ways to access a property, and will take an opportunity if they see it.

“Residents are urged to take simple crime prevention measures and make life harder for thieves by ensuring their home is secure before leaving the house.”
