SIXTH form students from All Saints RC School in York have added their support for an associated sixth form with Manor CE Academy, as a date for a final public meeting is announced.

Public consultation on the proposal, which is for the two York schools to form a faith-based associated sixth form, closes on Monday (March 31), the date of the final public meeting.

Until then, any interested parties can go to either school website to vote, or they can collect questionnaires at the schools’ receptions.

Jennifer Moulds, a former Manor student now in the All Saints’ lower sixth: “An associated sixth form would strengthen the link between the schools and make the transition easier for those who were worried about the move.

“While it would give added support to those who struggle with change, it still allows for the experience of adapting to new surroundings and new people – very useful preparation for university.”

Fellow student Vicky Williams agreed that the transition to All Saints would be easier with the association in place. She said: “Especially in the early months when you’re finding your feet, that support would be very comforting.”

As previously reported by The Press, proposals launched at the beginning of February would mean that Manor becomes an 11-18 school, with A-level courses taught at All Saints, as they are now, and vocational performing arts courses and post-16 special education needs and disabled provision at Manor.

Monday's public meeting starts at 7pm at Manor, when All Saints head teacher Bill Scriven and Manor principal Brian Crosby will report back on the consultation so far.
