CONSTRUCTION work has started on a prestigious £6m seafront flats development at New Brighton – the final segment of the resort's multi-million pound regeneration master plan.

And developers Neptune are hopeful that the feel good factor generated by the resort's transformation will act as a catalyst for further investment in the area.

The development will comprise 24 apartments, adjacent to the Floral Pavilion Theatre, featuring full glazed sea facing balconies.

It marks completion of the final phase of Neptune’s New Brighton transformation scheme which has included total redevelopment of the Floral Pavilion Theatre and construction of the hugely popular Marine Point leisure and retail park.

Total investment in the resort in recent years has been put at around £80m.

Neptune's Daniel Hynd said: "It's good to be building on the feel good factor that exists in New Brighton and we hope this will continue the momentum and ensure there is even more investment in the area."

Cllr Pat Hackett, Wirral Council's cabinet member for regeneration, said: "This is the final phase of the Neptune scheme which we have fought long and hard to bring here.

"The development has made such a difference in the short time since Marine Point opened and its success has helped bring other investment to New Brighton – and I’ sure there will be more to come."

Further council plans in the pipeline include the opening up of the section of Victoria Road where it meets the promenade to ease traffic congestion at busy times of the year.

The apartments will range from one and two bedrooms on the ground and first floors and three and four bedroom duplex penthouses.

Neptune have also secured the rights to offer purchasers the use of the Governments Help To Buy Scheme.

The newly-launched scheme allows purchasers to acquire the apartments with just a 5% deposit, with the government offering a loan that is interest free for five years and will cover 25% of the purchase price.

This will mean purchasers can apply for Mortgages for the remaining 70% of the asking price.

Sue Taylor of Almond Property, who will be negotiating the sales for Neptune, said: "This luxurious development is something that discerning buyers have been awaiting for many years.

"With the re-development of New Brighton, they can now enjoy magnificent sea views and live within easy reach of local beauty spots, shopping and easy transportation links."

Work on site started earlier this week and will take 11 months to complete.
