A successful sports open day for disabled people will be held in Keighley next year.

Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure hosted its inaugural fun day this month at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre in Bradford.

The organisation, which runs several weekly clubs in Keighley and Bradford, joined with other clubs to showcase a range of sports.

These included football, cricket, boccia, swimming, tennis, cycling, athletics, new-age curling and powerchair football.

Existing members of disabled sports clubs were able to try new activities, while many other disabled children and adults sampled sports for the first time.

The funding was organised as part of West Yorkshire Sport’s Creating Connections project, funded by Sport England to help more disabled people take part in sport.

Event organiser Andrew Lane said that almost 100 people attended.

He said: “We have had very positive feedback from participants.”
