A YORK couple who won their wedding through a competition in The Press have been finding out all about two of their superb prizes.

Bride-to-be Lauren Beevers, 31, and groom David McRae, 40, of Wigginton Road, will not have to spend a pound on their big day after winning our Win A Wedding contest last year.

The couple, who have a one-year-old daughter, Robyn, are getting married in June at the Marriott Hotel on Tadcaster Road.

Their prize includes the venue, Lauren's wedding dress and bridesmaids' dresses, suits, flowers, stationery, decorations and hen and stag days.

They have now met photographer Nikki Hirst of Nikki Pix to discuss the £1,000 photography package she will be providing and also to pose for some pre-wedding photos.

Nikki, who is based in Acomb and has run Nikki Pix since 2005, said they went down to the Museum Gardens in Monday's sunshine for the pre-wedding shoot.

She said she had been the photographer at scores of weddings over the past decade and it was nice to be working with the winners of our prize.

The couple have also met Adele of Candy Stripes in Rawcliffe to discuss the 70 cupcakes that the business will be providing at the wedding.

Lauren said she and David did not want to cut a traditional wedding cake and so had opted for a cupcake to be baked for guests at the wedding.
