A YORKSHIRE lifeboat service has been given a £2,350 boost thanks to an oil and gas firm.
The crew at Humber RNLI, who deal with emergencies at sea off the Yorkshire coast, will use the donation from Perenco - which operates worldwide but has a terminal at Easington as well as offshore operations in the North Sea - to help pay for equipment and training allowing it to continue its lifesaving work. The organisation is a charity and relies entirely on voluntary contributions.
Martyn Hagan, coxswain and station manager at the Spurn Point lifeboat station, collected the funds after they were raised through Perenco's annual charity raffle. He said: "It is a great thing to receive donations like this, as all the crew at Humber as well as the crews around the UK are aware that without the generous support of the public and companies like Perenco, our lifeboat service could not exist."
