FRIENDS and police are growing increasingly concerned for a York man, who has not been seen since the weekend.
Ben Clarkson, 22, of Heworth, was last seen outside Fibbers nightclub in Stonebow at about 3.30am on Sunday, and police said it was unusual that he would be out of contract with his friends and family for so long.
Dan Swain, assistant manager at Music Room in Lendal, where Ben works, said he became concerned after Ben did not arrive in time for his shift at 11am on Sunday. He said Ben had been out with a colleague on Saturday, but had left a bag containing his house keys at his colleague’s home.
Mr Swain said: “On the few occasions when he has been running late he’s always got in touch and never just not turned up. [His colleague’s] exact words were he was on top form, seemed to be in very good cheer. One of our guys received a text message around 11.50pm on Saturday from Ben, some humorous comment.”
Ben, who is described as white, 6ft tall with a slim build and collar length blond hair, and was last seen wearing dark jeans, a grey t-shirt with an Eiifel Tower logo and a black leather jacket, left Fibbers but never returned home.
Mr Swain said he had spoken to Ben’s girlfriend who was very worried about him, and just wanted Ben or anyone who has seen him since Sunday to get in touch with police, Ben’s family or friends.
He said: “I think the fact that no-one has heard anything is the most worrying thing. No texts or anything it’s unusual.
“We want to let him know his colleagues and friends are equally concerned and we’re here if he needs to talk to anyone. The most important thing for us is we want to know if he’s okay. Just get in touch and let us know you’re safe.”
Inspector Charlotte Bloxham, of York Police, said: “Ben, if you see or hear this appeal I urge you to make contact with your family and friends straight away.
“If you would prefer, you can contact the police and we will let your family know that you are not in any danger.”
Anyone who can help find Ben should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
