ORGANISERS of Yorkshire’s annual celebration of agriculture have provided a sneak preview of this year’s newcomers ahead of tickets going on sale.

The Great Yorkshire Show, which runs from July 8 to 10, will highlight the best of British country life and, for the first time in its 156-year history, includes classes for British White cattle. The breed is one of the oldest in the UK.

The show at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate will also introduce competitions for female sheep-shearers, alongside classes for cattle, sheep, pigs and horses, plus four fashion shows a day, more than a 1,000 trade stands and family attractions.

Two-week-old British White calf Nidderdale Valentine, owned by Harrogate farmer Andrew Fisher, was given an early look at the venue this week for the show, which last year attracted more than 135,000 visitors.

Tickets go on sale from 9am on Monday and will be available from greatyorkshireshow.co.uk, by phoning 01423 541222 or from the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s offices at the Regional Agricultural Centre on Railway Road, Harrogate.

Savings can be made on tickets booked in advance.
