A NATIONAL charity has urged volunteers in York and Selby to help with this year’s main campaign.

Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal launches on Friday and Saturday, and the charity has asked local people to make a donation and wear a daffodil pin to support people with terminal illnesses.

The appeal runs throughout March and is Marie Curie’s biggest fundraiser, with all funds raised helping Marie Curie Nurses provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes.

Natalie Atherley, Community Fundraiser, said: “We need everyone in Selby and York to get behind the appeal by donating and wearing one of our daffodil pins during March.

“Every penny you can give is vital in helping Marie Curie Nurses provide more care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes, as well as emotional support for their families.”

Daffodil pins are available from Marie Curie volunteer collectors, local stores and Marie Curie Shops throughout March.
