ZOMBIES, dalmatians and superheroes took to the streets of York this weekend to raise money for charity.
Students from the University of York took part in the annual Raising And Giving (RAG) parade through the city, with this year’s costumes themed around movies.
About a hundred students from the university’s nine colleges took part in Sunday’s parade, which was the culmination of this year’s fundraising events, and organisers said they were expecting to beat last year’s total.
Lily Greenwood, from the university’s Students’ Union, said: “About a week ago we’d raised £2,000, but I know we’ve raised a bit more.”
This year, the fundraising week – organised by the Students’ Union – will donate all funds to Cardiac Risk in the Young, a charity which helps increase the awareness of conditions that can lead to young sudden cardiac death.
