2:32pm Tuesday 18th February 2014 in News
POLICE seized drugs and cash from a car stopped on the A1 as part of an operation targeting criminals coming into the region.
A 36-year-old man from Derby was arrested after being stopped by officers from North Yorkshire Police on the southbound A1, at Boroughbridge, at 11.40am on Monday.
He was driving a vehicle reported stolen from the Derbyshire force area.
Officers recovered £4,000 in cash and drugs, believed to be crack-cocaine, with a street value of £1,500.
The man was arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and money laundering.
He was released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Operation Hawk was launched in July, to protect the communities of North Yorkshire from the threat of travelling criminals coming into the county to commit crime.
Since the operation began, officers have made more than 150 arrests.
