NORTH Yorkshire TV chef James Martin had to pull out of hosting his regular Saturday cookery show at the weekend after ending up in hospital.

The Ryedale culinary expert – whose plans for improving meals at Scarborough Hospital were screened last year in Operation Hospital Food – tweeted an apology to his followers on Valentine’s Day saying: “Sorry, not going to be on Saturday Kitchen tomorrow. Just been in hospital for real, wasn’t sorting the food this time.”

Reports in national newspapers yesterday claimed the 41-year-old, who is executive chef at the Talbot Hotel in Malton, injured his head while in his car, although he would not give further details about the accident.
