HUNDREDS of pounds worth of cigarettes have been stolen during an overnight break-in at a garage in Ryedale.

The cigarettes, valued at £300, and petrol cans worth £50 were taken when burglars smashed the door window at Cook's Garage in Kirkbymoorside with a large stone between 1.15am and 1.30am today.

North Yorkshire Police teams searched the area with a police dog but the burglars were not found. Anybody who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious or heard the building's alarm sounding should phone the force on 101 and ask for Pc Dave Kirk or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
