THIEVES have stolen bikes and equipment worth about £35,000 from a York store.

The raiders struck at Cycle Scene, in Wigginton, overnight on Wednesday, February 12.

Items stolen included mountain bikes made by Argon, Morida and Norco, as well as racing bikes manufactured by Argon and Bianchi.

Also taken were spare parts for both styles of bike including lights, brackets, seat posts and wheels and Electron, Mavic Cosmic, Hope and Thompson accessories.

A Bryton bicycle satellite navigation system was also taken.

Detective Constable Martin Hinchliffe, of York CID, said: “If you were in the Sutton Road area around the time of the burglary and noticed any unusual or suspicious behaviour I ask that you contact the police straight away.

“I am also keen to speak to anyone who may be offered bikes or parts matching the description of those stolen, in strange circumstances and urge them to get in touch.”
