'Singing chefs' to entertain visitors at Yorkshire Hotel Show
10:44am Tuesday 11th February 2014 in News
VISITORS to next week’s Yorkshire Hotel Show will get a taste of the entertaining side of the business from a group of singing chefs.
The musical trio will dress as kitchen workers and roam the show at York Racecourse next Tuesday and Wednesday before performing and breaking into song.
Organisers of the show hope it will bring some light relief from the more serious aspects of the hotel business under discussion on Knavesmore.
The “chefs” are all members of York-based theatre company the Four Shadows and have performed at various festivals in York and North Yorkshire.
Yorkshire Hotel Show organiser John Gallery said: “The idea is that entertaining people in hotels and restaurants is something those attending the show will want to know about. It’s something different.”
The Singing Chefs’ booking was secured when the Four Shadows’ Richard Wade heard about the Yorkshire Hotel Show on Twitter and got in touch with organisers.
He said: “We play a lot of vintage fairs and wedding fairs, and although we’d never done any hotel shows before, we thought it might be a good idea.”
Hundreds of hoteliers, restaurateurs and caterers are expected to descend on York Racecourse for the free show, the first of its kind in Yorkshire for a decade.
Featuring trade stands displaying the latest equipment, food, drink, interiors and technology, there will be a number of guest speakers complemented by a packed programme of seminars.
