WORLD Cup final referee Howard Webb will be joining the thousands of runners embarking on the fourth annual Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All York 10K event this weekend.

Mr Webb, who is counted amongst the top referees of all time and who has refereed a number of notable matches including the FA Cup Final, the UEFA Champions League and FIFA World Cup, will be joined by the Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Keith Hyman and the Sheriff of York, Councillor Paul Firth as the event’s official race starters.

More than 6,000 runners are expected to take part on the 6.2 mile challenge which will mark the final event in the For All Events’ 2012 10K series and which also forms part of the 800th anniversary celebrations of the York’s Royal Charter status.

After the race, runners and spectators can enjoy a morning cheering on our British Olympic Marathon hopeful Freya Murray as she goes for gold, as the Games are broadcast on a big screen on Knavesmire.

The Asda Active team will also host a series of sporting activities to keep spectators and children entertained throughout the day.
